The Housing Director is the Spokesperson for all NSO housing programs. This position is responsible for communicating the NSO mission and providing oversight of administrative and management of all housing operations.  The Housing Director ensures a respectful environment through effective management of resident and community relations and is responsible for the supervision of the Client Advocate of each property.

Essential Functions 

  • Plan, implement, administer and evaluate all housing programs to ensure effective and beneficial services to the agency's clients.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all residents with other residents and external community.
  • Investigate and resolve client complaints.
  • Attend, participate, and represent NSO in internal and external meetings.
  • Ensure housing staff is promoting proactive approaches to client relations.
  • Oversee client advocates to ensure housing programs maintain full capacity.
  • Conduct relevant community outreach to identify potential program participants.
  • Conduct regular site and unit inspections to identify issues or safety hazards that may impact residents, staff or the property.
  • Supervise all housing staff.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services or related field required.
  • Five to seven years experience working with homeless populations preferred, with a minimum of two years experience in human services field, homeless services, or residential programming required.  
  • Previous experience working with foster care youth is a plus.
  • Must have valid driver's license and auto insurance and willing to complete a defensive driver's course.
  • Clearance of background check and drug screen.

Skills and Abilities Required

  • Clear, oral and written communication skills.
  • Patience when assisting population served.
  • Use of interpersonal communication, interviewing, and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsible, professional behavior with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team that is comprised of volunteers, professional staff, and residents.
  • Above average knowledge of computer applications, including Outlook, Word and the ability to learn and master other computer technology/software programs as needed.
  • Adherence to policies and procedures are a must.
  • Requires the ability to work independently.
